The Anesthesia Tech at Platte Valley practices under the general supervision and direction of the Department Director and Anesthesiologist provides technical and supportive services for the Department of Surgery and Anesthesiology in accordance with the philosophy, policy and procedures of PVMC.
Duties include: Inventory and stocking of a variety of surgical supplies and equipment. Works cohesively with physicians and other departments to assist in the anesthesia care of patients.
A. Education: High school or G.E.D. preferred. CPR required by the completion of the unit-specific orientation and before working independently.
B. Experience: Previous healthcare experience preferred. Previous experience in maintenance of anesthesia supplies and equipment strongly preferred. Medical supply chain management experience preferred.
C. Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities: Strong sense of professionalism; basic clerical skills; ability to organize work according to priorities; ability to complete projects in a timely and accurate manner while working against specific deadlines; ability to carry out assignments with minimal supervision; maturity and tact in dealing with patients, clients and co-workers. Basic understanding of the principles of asepsis and sterile technique; and an understanding of anesthesia machines and medication. Knowledge of medical terminology, experience in scheduling and secretarial skills preferred. Prefer Familiarity with Windows Operating System and common word processing and spreadsheet programs.

This job may require the employee, under supervision, to care for patients of all ages, including neonate, child, adolescent, and geriatric. Consequently, the employee must have an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process. The treatment of patients should be individualized and should reflect an understanding of the developmental needs and range of treatment needs for each patient.
