Job Summary Overview :

Responsible for maintaining floors, walls, hallways, windows, furniture, patient rooms, offices, rest rooms and other similar areas of the hospital in a clean and sanitary condition by hand or with the appropriate cleaning equipment. Responsible for cleaning and disinfecting STAT rooms and dismissals as assigned. Responsible for maintaining assigned work area and equipment clean and sanitary. Responsible for operating equipment and handling cleaning chemicals in a safe manner.

 

Primary Job Duties

Strip the patient rooms, as assigned; including, bedding and trash.

Check Sharps containers and change them when necessary.

Dust patient rooms, as assigned, from top to bottom using the dusting equipment.

Disinfect patient rooms and bathrooms, as assigned, using the appropriate cleaning chemicals.

Clean meeting rooms, offices, hallways, rest rooms, and other areas of the hospitals, as assigned, using the proper cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Dust mop patient rooms, as assigned, using the dust mopping equipment.

Mop patient room floors and vacuum carpet, as assigned and where applicable.

Wash patient beds and mattresses, as assigned.

Dress patient beds with proper linen, as assigned.

Inspect each patient room, meeting room, office, rest room, and other area of the hospital, as assigned, after cleaning to ensure area is clean and sanitary.

Respond to STAT discharges in 5 min. or less.

Respond to all other types of dismissals in 10 min. or less.

Report clean patient rooms to nurse and/or on white board as instructed.

Turn in completed Daily worksheet at end of shift.

Respond to pages in a timely manner.

Use cleaning equipment as instructed.

Report any equipment malfunctions to your immediate manager.

Use cleaning chemicals as instructed.

Report any chemical spills to your immediate manager.

Clean spills as instructed.

Dispose of trash, soiled linen and infectious waste using the proper color trash bags.

Distribute clean linen on patient floors, as assigned.

Maintain utility and storage rooms in clean and orderly condition.

Wear required protective equipment and follow safety procedures in designated work areas, as instructed.

Other duties as assigned by manager, supervisor and/or team lead.

 

Education/ Experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous environmental services experience preferred.

High School or GED Strongly Preferred

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to understand verbal & written instructions in English for essential job functions.

 

  • Medium work. Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
