In this position, the Surgical Services Scheduler / Bill Auditor facilitates the scheduling of all procedures to be done in all Surgical Services departments and is responsible for promoting and marketing Surgical Services by assessing the physician and customer needs and appropriately utilizing the available resources to provide for customer satisfaction. The position is responsible for auditing the surgical services patient charges through the interface process between the perioperative documentation application and the billing application and provides information through the appropriate processes to maintain the databases linking the documentation and billing applications. The position also reconciles the submission of vendor charges for patient specific, non-inventory implants and supplies with the OR case charges.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience in understanding and usage of computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as the ability to learn new application(s) relevant to the position.
Minimum of two years experience working in a revenue cycle related activity such as a business office, billing operation, registration function, medical scheduling, etc.
Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, procedural coding, and HCPCS device coding.
Awareness of state/federal regulatory and compliance requirements for billing. Understanding of basic bookkeeping/accounting skills.
Demonstrates knowledge of professional phone etiquette.
Ability to accurately type a minimum of 60 wpm
Ability to accurately transcribe verbal information during phone calls.
Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environment.
