Job Summary Overview :

Prepare food and beverages according to request by Coffee Shop customers at Lutheran Medical Center. Prepare cash register and surrounding area for a safe and sanitary environment. Ensure all cash handling requirements are met.

Maintain and ensure high quality food and beverage presentation. Responsible for speed of service in cash handling, food and beverage preparation. Interact positively and favorably with all customers and co-workers to provide proper, accurate and courteous service and all Service Behaviors are followed. Follow all food handling regulations, departmental and hospital policy and procedures, health codes and JCAHO standards.


General Barista Duties :


Report to work in proper and clean uniform and hair is restraint according to policy

Follow cash handling policies and procedures by counting the banks and setting up the cash register for daily use.

Follow pricing guidelines for accurate ring of sales. Close out cash register,

complete daily paperwork, run end of shift reports, count daily money intake

Record temperatures at opening and closing on refrigeration and freezer units.

Stock pastry case with fresh pastries and donuts, ensuring quality of items

Rotate and check dates on all food items.

Prepare quality coffee, espresso, tea, and specialty beverages according to menu and set standards.

Conduct yourself in a professional manner and maintain a positive and friendly rapport with customers and coworkers.

Use only approved cleaning supplies. Clean and sanitize area and equipment according to cleaning schedule.

Follow clean as you go rule to keep Coffee Shop presentable at all times

Wash, rinse, and sanitize utensils per standards.



Able to speak, read and write the English language
High school diploma or GED

Two years food service experience
