The Medical Technologist (ASCP) is responsible for laboratory tests and examinations in several fields of clinical pathology. He/she works with moderate to minimal supervision and receives written requisitions from physicians for routine or special laboratory tests; obtains laboratory specimens such as urine, blood, and sputum from wards or directly from the patient; conducts accurate and reliable analyses of specimens; provides verbal and written reports; posts laboratory results; documents quality control; documents instrument maintenance for review by supervisor. He/she is also responsible for the fulfillment of education of current and/or new procedures as requested. May supervise and direct duties of Medical Laboratory Technicians and Clinical Pathology Assistants as required by Laboratory administration.
Required: B.S. or B.A. in Medical Technology, ASCP, HHS, NCA, AMT Registration or an equivalent required. Registry required with 6 months of hire.
