Job Summary:

Based primarily at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, CO, with a temporary office at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette, CO, the Care Site Compliance and Privacy Officer is responsible for providing operational leadership to the Care Site on matters relating to compliance, privacy and regulatory issues.   
Reporting to the System Senior Director of Operational Compliance, the Compliance & Privacy Officer is responsible for implementation of the System’s Integrity and Compliance Program, including privacy, at the Care Site including the administration of audit and monitoring processes; the implementation and monitoring of policies and procedures; the education and associate awareness of the SCL Health Code of Conduct; regulatory compliance and privacy education; risk assessment; reporting of compliance and privacy issues, assisting with investigations and ensuring implementation of corrective actions; and remediation/mitigation of issues of non-compliance.
Critical to this role is a penchant for confidentiality, coupled with a well-developed and refined skill set in working with operational and clinical leaders; the ability to clearly adjudicate and appropriately  intercede in difficult and complex matters; model “cultural” best practices and values; be an expert facilitator regarding one-on-one and small group communications and interactions; and provide education

Position Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in one of the following areas: law, regulatory affairs, health care administration, medicine, nursing, business and/or ethics from an accredited college or university. Candidates without this credential may be considered with a combination of a Bachelor’s degree (as described above) and active professional certifications (e.g. Healthcare Compliance Fellowship(s) or CPA).
  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience, at least three (3) years of which is in a compliance role, performing tasks similar to those outlined in this specification.
  • Experience working with HIPAA Privacy. 
  • Advanced skills in the areas of project management, planning, investigations and implementing initiatives.
