Performs a variety of radiographic exams and procedures to produce images of a patient’s body for diagnostic purposes.  Collaborates with both internal and external healthcare team members to contribute to the plan of care of the patient.  Practices patient safety. 

Works in collaboration with Director/Manager of Imaging to identify and drive quality and performance improvement initiatives.  Requires thorough knowledge and understanding of the principals and physics.  Hours of work may vary with Corporate and/or Departmental goals.

  • Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance program and safety.
  • Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, and other such reports.
  • Performs radiographic examinations obtains patient history, explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns.
  • Transports patients to diagnostic exam room; prepares and maintains room for daily activities.
  • Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis.
  • Processes CR cassettes appropriately guaranteeing image quality at all times.
  • Maintains X-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts BioMed/outside service for major malfunctions.
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
  • Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
  • Assists clinical personnel in transferring patients to or from beds, chairs, wheelchairs or stretchers.
  • Interacts with nursing units, emergency department, laboratory and outpatient department. 
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Assists with the training of new employees.
  • Assists with SOP revision and validation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an A.R.R.T. approved Radiologic Technology program required
  • ARRT (R) registry eligible
  • ARRT (R) register within 90 days of hire
  • Thorough knowledge of  anatomy and skill in recognition of normal and abnormal variants
  • Thorough knowledge of radiation safety

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year diagnostic radiology experience
