Clinical Dietitian

In this position, the Clinical Dietitian plans and coordinates patient nutrition care including counseling patients and/or caregivers on diet and nutrition; participating in specialty clinics or programs; and promoting nutrition and the hospital through public relations and marketing. 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inpatient Patient Care
  • Plans and coordinates age appropriate care including general nutrition (visits, monitoring, medical records, and office records), Food/Drug interaction, and recommendations for referrals to other disciplines.
  • Provides aggressive nutrition intervention appropriate for age and/or developmental stage and provides follow-up for continuity of care with ongoing evaluations and documentation including assessments, reassessments, and recommendations including NPO. 
  • Counsels and instructs patients and/or care givers providing written instruction materials. 
  • Evaluates and documents patient and/or caregiver understanding of diet based on behavioral objectives. 
  Outpatient Patient Care
  • Counsels and instructs outpatients and/or families providing written instruction materials. 
  • Evaluates and documents patient and/or caregiver understanding of diet based on behavioral objectives.
Communication/Marketing
  • Develops and revises education materials and teaching outlines including individual and group handouts, ensuring materials are understandable and accurate.
  • Promotes nutrition and the Food Services Department through public relations and marketing.  

  • BS degree in Nutrition or relevant filed of study with dietetic internship or equivalent.
  • Current Registration with the ADA Commission on Dietetic Registration or registry eligible with the ability to obtain within three months of hire
  • Current nutrition license with the Montana State Board of Medical Examiners or licensure ready with the ability to obtain within three months of hire
  • Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within three months of hire
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team
  • Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in understanding and usage of computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as the ability to learn applications relevant to the position
