The Certified Recreational Therapist (CTR) is responsible to design treatment plans to restore and rehabilitate a person’s level of functioning and independence in life activities and eliminate the activity limitations caused by a disabling condition. The Recreational therapist assesses clients using information from observations, medical records, standardized assessments, the medical staff, the clients’ families, and the clients themselves. Using a variety of techniques, including arts and crafts, sports, games, music, and community outings, therapists improve and maintain the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of acute rehab unit patients.
Education: Greater than 3 years beyond HS (BA, BS in therapeutic Recreation or related field)
Experience: Greater than 3 months
License / Certification / Registration C.T.R.S. (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist)
Current, valid, class appropriate driver�s license
Working Environment: Works in a well lit, heated and ventilated area. Position requires considerable mobility throughout the facilities. Potential exposure to routine, communicable diseases through regular contact with associates and the public at large.
