The Clinical Coordinator (CC) functions in the role of expert clinician, educator, consultant, and supporter of clinical practice. In collaboration with the medical staff and nursing staff, monitors the clinical care of patients and provides clinical support to improve patient care and patient outcomes. Incorporated within each of these role functions, the CC is a role model, patient advocate, leader, change agent and cost-effective practitioner. The CC demonstrates strong leadership, supervisory, and communication skills. The CC must be comfortable in a participatory management model that actively includes others in the decision making process. The CC serves as a clinical role model for other personnel in the department and throughout the hospital. It is essential the CC is seen as a strong nursing and patient care advocate. The CC actively participates in hospital activities aimed at achieving the mission of PVMC. The CC must possess qualities of innovation, creativity and the ability to respond positively to changing circumstances. The CC will assist the Department Director with the clinical and administrative management of the department. The CC performs all other duties as assigned.

A. Education: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of
ACLS and ENPC or PALS required 6 months after employment. Binannual attendance at CPR and ACLS required.
B. Experience: Prefer 5 years nursing experience in Pre-Operative and PACU nursing. Previous charge nurse or management experience preferred.
C. Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: Must possess the ability to: motivate and coordinate resources in the management of the department, to promote teamwork within the department, ability to organize work according to priorities, maintain a helpful and positive regard for the patient and family. Must have a strong sense of professionalism. Must possess excellent clinical skills which utilize current and up-to-date knowledge in the provision of patient care. Pursues programs of continuing education to maintain clinical and management expertise and expand knowledge base or skills related to areas of responsibility. Demonstrated competency in intermediate level computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, the ability to utilize the Internet for research and demonstrated patient data management skills. Will be required to complete department orientation guide. This job may require the employee to be responsible for the assessment, treatment, or care of patients of all ages, including neonate, child, adolescent, and geriatric. Consequently, the employee must be competent in the interpretation of a patient's self-report or behavior, and this information must be interpreted with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process.
