Job Summary:

 

In this position, the Clinical Risk Manager is responsible for organizing, planning, on-going development, and implementation of the Risk Management, Quality, and Patient Safety Programs at SJH (including all hospital outpatient departments and 3 St. James Physician Network sites), in collaboration with SCL Health. The Clinical Risk Manager acts as a resource for SJH leaders and medical staff, and is responsible for the implementation and execution of all SCL Health Risk Management and Safety policies and procedures and the SJH Quality and Safety Plan. The Clinical Risk Manager performs job-specific duties and responsibilities, including Loss Prevention, Patient Safety and Claims Management, as well as general leadership responsibilities such as Operational Oversight and Decision-Making.  This position reports to the facility Director of Quality.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Associates Degree required

  • BSN and/or JD preferred
    Current Certification in Healthcare Risk Management, or ability to obtain within 2-years of hire.

  • Friends and Family BLS within 6 months of hire

  • Experience in understanding healthcare risk, safety, quality policies/procedures/governmental rules and regulations.

  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare, acute environment, clinical risk management, with focus on quality and patient safety.

  • Experience and strong knowledge of the legal system and litigation processes and investigation techniques as it relates to healthcare.

  • Demonstrates cognitive ability to problem solve, resolve conflicts, and make decisions with sound reasoning, good judgment, and critical thinking skills.

  • Strong ability to engage others and lead change.
