Leads SCL Health’s business development efforts for inpatient, ambulatory, and service lines for Lutheran Medical Center (LMC). Key responsibilities include the development and implementation of strategies and actions to advance overall growth of the organization, including enhancing existing service lines, creating physician alignment in primary and specialty care, new business opportunities, and potential partner organizations, all in alignment with the care site executive team and the greater SCL Health strategies and objectives. This is a strategic role that requires hands-on work with data, analytics, and building relationships.
Identifies new business opportunities in support of: SCL Health’s objectives; the needs of the community, hospital, and medical staff; and the care site strategic plan
Strengthens market position by sourcing and developing new business opportunities with a special emphasis on increased ambulatory services, and services needed to offer a comprehensive care continuum
Leads formulation of strategies, business plans and financial pro forma statements, and champions the same to gain support and funding of proposed initiatives
In collaboration with other leadership team members, reviews strategic initiatives and service line growth strategies on a regular basis to identify growth opportunities and evaluate performance against business objectives. In cases where performance varies negatively from objectives, develops and implements necessary midcourse corrections and/or implements exit strategy
Participates in care site strategic plan development using a data driven approach with accountability for overseeing implementation/execution of defined strategies and measurement of success
Conducts ongoing environmental assessment with the intent of positioning care site to respond opportunistically to current and further internal and external healthcare trends
Partners with both clinical and administrative leaders to drive the strategic growth and development of all clinical service lines, ensuring the comprehensive health needs of the community are served
Supports and consults on physician contracting activities to ensure compliance, aligned performance metrics and incentives, and to drive quality outcomes through financial stewardship
Supports, consults, and is a liaison to SCL Health Provider Services’ strategic priorities; aligns care site priorities and needs, including provider services growth, recruitment, on-boarding, real estate planning, and marketing
Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in health administration, business, or related field of study.
- Seven (7) years of demonstrated experience with strategic planning, and business and growth development
- Five (5) years of job-specific experience in the healthcare industry, and
- Four (4) years of related management/leadership responsibility.
- Master’s Degree in health administration, business administration, or public administration.
- Combination of inpatient, ambulatory, and service-line experience.
