Confers with Department management representatives to proactively identify staffing needs according to defined position specifications, duties, qualifications and skill sets.
Collaborates with unit/dept shared governance council to establish and monitor service and performance standards for departmental functions. Guide council in the design, implementation and accountability actions needed to continuously improve quality and safety. Support the work of the staff through the council(s), act as a resource and support council decisions.
Partner with clinical educator and unit/dept shared governance council to incorporate professional nursing and regulatory standards. Incorporate best practices through the use of evidence based practices, research, and innovation in nursing standards.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of human relations and organizational dynamics in a changing health care environment. Guide staff during planned and unplanned change. Identifies, encourages and mentors the talent and potential of others
Develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates unit/dept budget based on historical data and patient care needs. Guides, coordinates and supervises all activities in the Department including purchasing, receiving, storing and usage of supplies. Advocates for human and fiscal resources based on changing needs of unit or department.
Monitors ongoing monthly operational budget including unit productivity, and develops appropriate action plan in response.
Bachelors in nursing minimum, masters preferred (masters may be non-nursing if has BSN). One degree must be in nursing.
3 years nursing experience minimum; with demonstrated progressive leadership development/experience preferred.
