Unit Description

Shifts are 5am-130pm, 7am-330pm, 12pm-830pm.  Do you like making coffee, and serving customers face to face? Our customers are hospital patients, medical staff, nurses, and patient's families.

Enjoy serving and getting to know people in your community.

This Barista position works every other weekend.

Must be available for range of shifts when the shop is open.

The Coffee Shop is open from 5am to 830pm Mon - Sunday.

Shifts are 5am-130pm, 7am-330pm, 12pm-830pm. 

We would prefer experience but can do on the job training for the correctly skilled candidate.

This position will also cross train in the cafe when time permits.

The list below is considered to be essential functions of your position and all employees are expected to meet the following in their day-to-day work:

Prepare food and beverages according to request by Coffee Shop customers at Lutheran Medical Center.

Prepare cash register and surrounding area for a safe and sanitary environment. Ensure all cash handling requirements are met.

Maintain and ensure high quality food and beverage presentation.

Responsible for speed of service in cash handling, food and beverage preparation. Interact positively and favorably with all customers and co-workers to provide proper, accurate and courteous service and all Service Behaviors are followed.

Follow all food handling regulations, departmental and hospital policy and procedures, health codes and JCAHO standards.

Provide food & supplies to customers in a safe and sanitary work environment.  Interact cordially with customers and co-workers to provide prompt, accurate and courteous service.

Cafeteria Server


•Gather and prepares salad bar items for day’s use

•Put Salad Bar items in proper containers and set salad bar in an attractive and appealing manner

•Ensure food is being labeled, dated and covered

•Ensure food is being handled and stored according to HACCP guidelines

•Stock condiments and disposables

•Requisition salad bar items

•Stock and organize soup area

•Cut fresh vegetables and make dressing for the following day

•Set up steamtable and discuss serving and menu choices with cooks

•Serve lunch from the steamtable

•Restock dessert, beverages and “Grab and Go” Coolers

•Clean and refill salad bar, soup area and steamtables

•Make “Grab and Go” salads for the following day

•Ensure equipment is in good working condition

•Clean and sanitize work area and sweep floor

•Courteous and friendly to customer and staff

•Resolve customer problems and complaints


•Set up dessert station and “Grab and Go” Coolers

•Ensure food is being labeled, dated and covered properly

•Ensure food is being handled and stored according to HACCP guidelines

•Prepare grocery requisition

•Clean and organize refrigerators

•Store requisitioned food and supplies away in the proper area

•Stock “Grab and Go” Coolers

•Refill soup station and salad bar

•Assist setting up steamtable for dinner

•Serve dinner

•Break-down and clean serving area

•Store excess food properly

•Clean and sanitize work area and sweep floor

•Assist others in closing for the evening

•Courteous and friendly to customer and staff

•Resolve customer problems and complaints




Able to speak, read and write the English language

High school diploma or GED required

Two years food service experience

Must work weekends and holidays.

Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English for essential job functions.

Ongoing demonstration of department specific competencies and skills.


Preferred food service experience in a healthcare facility, such as health care food service
